I was born in England and came to Canada as a child. My parents are both Polish,  forced to leave their country during WWII.  Ottawa has been my home for the past 29 years.

I hold degrees in art and psychology and am a professional member with the Ontario Expressive Arts Therapies Association. As well as teaching art, I work with several agencies in and around Ottawa as an Expressive Arts Practitioner. Using visual arts, I assist people with personal growth, healing, and recovery. I have worked in mental health and education in various capacities for over twenty-five years.

My commissioned artwork can be found in numerous  schools and churches throughout the Ottawa area.  Please check on the artist biography for my exhibition history.

A major component of my art is my interest in people and how they have been shaped by their life experiences. I include ideas from many disciplines such as psychology, philosophy, mathematics, religion, and science. My paintings make use of   repeated forms and figures. These repeated forms  create patterns and meaning. It is the patterns we find in life and individual lives which interest me the most.

Dancing figures, birds and horses populate my images.  They refer to many things: birds can represent fear, chaos ,danger although sometimes liberation; the dancing figures are longing, joy, freedom and spirit; horses allude to powerful emotions and forces in and around us.

My work is based on careful use of the basic ingredients of painting: color, composition, form, line etc. I like to use the golden ratio and other geometric forms to create spatial relationships. Following methodical planning,  I turn to intuition and spontaneity  to complete the work.

Thank you for visiting my website. I would be pleased to hear any responses you may have to my paintings.  Please note that all images are copyrighted, watermarked and cannot be used for any reason without my permission.
